What is the Harmony System?

The Harmony System is a sports statistics system that utilizes Harmonic Average to compare different statistical categories across a multitude of sports.

2500 years ago, Pythagoras documented that Harmonic Average weights to the lowest of a data set. So, The Sports Harmony uses Harmonic Average to analyze past and current players, clubs, and even entire nations’ performances.

Players and subjects must be good at each chosen category in order to rank highly, and the applications are endless when it comes to sports statistics!

For example, with Baseball Harmony, Harmonic Average was used to create three sets of data in the different styles of baseball for position players.

Small Ball Harmony: The Harmony of BB, 1B and “Sac+SB”

(3*BB*1B*Sac+SB) / [(BB*1B)+(BB*Sac+SB)+(1B*Sac+SB)]

Note: “Sac+SB” is a category label, not an operation.

Middle Ball Harmony: The Harmony of BB, 1B and 2B

(3*BB*1B*2B) / [(BB*1B)+(BB*2B)+(1B*2B)]

Big Ball Harmony: The Harmony of BB, XBH and RBI

(3*BB*XBH*RBI) / [(BB*XBH)+(BB*RBI)+(XBH*RBI)]
